We use Dave Ramsey's cash budget system to keep better track of our finances.
We don't follow it exactly, but we use the basic principles.
The only way we stay remotely on track with our budget, is if we're using cash.
We're not perfect by any means but we're always striving to be better stewards.
For some reason, no matter how much we try to prepare for it,
we always fall off the wagon at Christmas time.
On top of it being a very expensive time of year its also a busy time of year
and we just...lose track.
So the first couple of months of the year are "get back on track" months for us.
This is what I've been using for the past few years
to organize my budgeted cash...
Just a cheapo pastic accordion envelope.
It was starting to fall apart and look pretty sad
and I thought if I had something pretty to put my cash in,
I might be more motivated to stay on a track.
It's a good theory right? ;)
I knew exactly what I wanted but couldn't find it anywhere.
but she didn't have the right size for cash.
I also looked on etsy but everything was too expensive and had too many features.
I wanted simple.
I finally decided to challenge myself and figure out how to make one.
I could see in my head what I wanted
but I had to figure out how to construct it.
I looked at a lot of photos and tutorials of similar items
then made some sketches and started cutting and sewing.
After a few tries and a couple of days,
I had a finished product that I was actually proud of and happy with!
I really only carry cash for groceries, household items and gas
so I only wanted 3 compartments in my wallet.
I also used my new label maker to label each compartment.
And to make Dave Ramsey proud,
I had all the supplies on hand except for the snaps!
Which were $4 (for like 50) and I used a 40% off coupon. ;)
I'm not sure my design is good enough for a tutorial
but if anyone's interested leave a comment! :)
