the cusp of summer...and a rocket ship.

I had an awesome memorial day weekend.
Filled with BBQ's, friends, sunshine, & way too much food.
And absolutely no photos to prove it. :)

I've spent today trying to get back on task after our
luxurious 3 day weekend.
Tomorrow its time to focus on all of my outstanding SKC orders.

But now the sun's shining...and its getting hot...
and my pale legs that are so white they glow
are begging me to leave the darkness of the basement
& enter into the light that I so affectionately call...SUMMER.

Yeah, its gonna be a struggle
to not take a 3 month long summer vacation from my shop. :)
But there's bound to be rainy days that will leave me dying to craft.

Here's a new {simple } set.
Enjoy! :)

she did it.

Remember my sweet friend...

Well, she's officially a college graduate.
And I had the honor of planning her graduation party
put on by her very proud parents.

Her favorite colors right now are grey & yellow
{love}
and we threw in a touch of purple for good measure
(she's a wildcat through & through but walked the hill at KU).
The lemon & chocolate cupcakes were made by
a phenomenal baker in our church,
proceeds go toward her husband's mission trip to the Sudan.
Isn't she beautiful? :)
All the flowers were done by my sweet friend Lizz.
Thanks girlie - you were a life saver! :)
And here are Allison's sweet kiddos.
And I mean it.
They really are sweet.
And beautiful (like model-worthy).
And athletic (like MVP's).
And extremely intelligent (like truly gifted).
And some of the most well-behaved kids I've ever met.

Well done, mama. Well done. :)

mix 'n match

This post has no rhyme or reason
so, just go with it. ;)

You probably remember this gift set.
It's been pretty popular since I first posted it.
And my sweet friend Audrey ordered one for her baby girl's
"coming home" outfit,
only she didn't want a bicycle onesie
so I did something a little special for her.
Go check out her beautiful baby girl here.
I've been getting into monogramming lately
and might do more of that in the future
so stay tuned if you're into that sort of thing. :)

This is the gift I made for sweet baby Tenley.
I LOVE this bright floral fabric and have used it a ton since.

Back to the bicycle set...
Unfortunately that adorable blue floral fabric
is out of stock and probably will not be restocked! :(
But I've still had a lot of people wanting the set
so I've started improvising...
Here are a couple of different versions I've made.

And you remember the above fabric from my giveaway.

And finally,
just a quick little set for Tenley to cheer on her daddy
at his triathlons this summer...
It must have worked
cause he placed 2nd overall in his first race of the season! :)

preschool wrap-up

Yesterday was Jaymin's preschool graduation.
It was quite a sight I tell ya. And very well done. :)

They got their diplomas,
that they immediately handed over to the assistant
so they would not become weapons
during the course of the rest of the program. :)
They sang their routine "this is the day" song complete with signing,
said pledges to the American flag, Christian flag & Bible.
Sang a special "secret" song with signing
that they had been working on for this day.
And Jaymin even had a line he had to say.
"Lord, thank you for my parents."
Ha, what a good one to have. ;)
Jaymin sitting with his class
{the yellow room}

It was super sweet and totally made me realize how big he is now
but I didn't shed tears like some parents.
He will be returning to preschool next year,
so he's not THAT big yet. :)

It was a little sad though
as we will be moving him to a different school closer to home.
We have LOVED this school & their incredible & loving staff members.

They sent home some progress papers
that were really fun to look through.
This was Jaymin's first year in preschool
so he had no prior training of letters, numbers, writing his name,
or drawing, other than what we had taught him at home.

This is what I found to be the most fascinating...
This is a picture Jaymin drew of his family
a couple months into school...
Notice that he drew a "dog" somewhere in there...
Yeah, we don't have a dog.
He says he has a dog but does not mention the brother he DOES have.
Awesome. ;)
So, yeah very scribbly.

This is how he drew his family this month...
I was amazed at how much we looked like people!
With head, torsos, arms, legs.
And don't worry, Jeff & I did not split up over the course of the year...
daddy was on the back. ;)
Complete with blue sky, yellow sun, and brown dirt.
Amazing!
He has grown so much this year.
But also notice, the missing dog and still no baby brother. ;)

Here is his school picture that I just LOVE.
I thought these were supposed to be really terrible...
MINE always were.
Here are the treats I sent in last week for his summer birthday.
They said no cupcakes
{apparently too messy and yet my child came home almost every day
covered from head to toe in marker ;) }
so I made the same brownie pops I made here and
I stole the tag idea from my friend. :)
This was my mother's day gift from Jay that he made at school.
Coffee filter flowers that they colored
and tied on the end of pens. :)
This is what he's been doing when he's NOT at school...
And I am absolutely amazed at his work.
He makes stuff that I never could in a million years!
Most of his legos make a specific car, helicopter, etc.
So it always amazes me when he puts random
pieces together to make his OWN creation.
He only has a few so legos are definitely on the birthday list this year.

I just can't believe my firstborn
has completed his first year of preschool,
is playing with legos, riding bikes with his friends,
& beating up his younger brother.
I'm a proud mama I tell ya. ;)

reality check

There's been a lot of girliness up in here lately
so its time bring you all back to to reality.
MY reality anyway. ;)
Boys.

I have abstained from the guitar onesies
for as long as I possible.
Heaven knows they're everywhere.
But I couldn't resist this guitar fabric
and the theme fit the customer.
So here you have it.
My version. ;)

{Now in my shop.}

tenley jay

Blogger was giving me some trouble this week
so I'm posting late - my apologies.

Just wanted to share some quick snapshots from
my sweet friend's shower.

You can't tell with how simple this shower looks
but I pretty much worked my arse off for it.
We had about twice as many people show up
as we had rsvp's for...yeah one of THOSE days. :)
I was still pregnant with Jemma
and moving furniture around, hauling stuff up & down stairs, etc.
I felt bad cause I wasn't the "glowing" happy hostess one should be
once the party started.
Sorry Janc.
But I was pretty much exhausted.
And a little ticked that I didn't get all my decor up in time.

We found out the next day
that we had lost Jemma.
And as I mentioned before, I just knew something was wrong.
So I'll use that as my excuse for my lack of enthusiasm. ;)
Is it weird I'm still talking about this?
For some reason its really therapeutic for me.
Sorry if I'm dragging out the gloom.
Just skip over my pity party and scroll to the bottom. ;)

All of this association
is probably why I've taken so long to post these pics.
Baby steps. :)
But today is a great day to do so!
Because my ever-so-talented photo friend
has taken some B-E-A-Utiful photos of this precious baby girl.
So go check 'em out.

a simple day

Homemade was this year's theme for
Mother's Day gifts.
Both my moms are big time crafters and
Jeff's mom really loves "gifts from the heart"
so I hope I pleased every body. :)

I made homemade soap & body scrub,
a printed tea towel and flower pin
and tried to do favorite color schemes for each gift.

This first set is brown & green...

...purple & green...

...and blue.
This one is being shipped to my mother-in-law as we speak.

homemade soap:
clear or opaque glycerin
oatmeal
honey
spices
tea
*the ingredient possibilities are endless!*
I made oatmeal honey clove bars & green tea bars.
Just melt glycerin, add ingredients, pour into molds (like yogurt cups) & allow to cool.

homemade body scrub:
epsom salt
olive oil
essential oils
I used peppermint!

My mother's day was spent going to church,
taking a few fun snapshots at the park afterwards...

{so thankful to be the mama of these boys}

...a delicious lunch at my parents house...
{me & my mama}
...and then heading to the plaza for gelato & shopping...

{me & my sis}

...and we even managed to get a halfway decent family photo
in front of the very cliche plaza fountains. ;)
It was a fun day & my guys took good care of me. :)

Oh yeah, I didn't get my necklace but I still have hope!
My birthday is right around the corner. ;)

Hope you had a great Mother's Day!!
